Transfer to Step by Step Fostering

Not Feeling Supported in Your Foster Care Journey?

Finding the right fostering agency is essential to your fostering journey. When you feel unsupported, undervalued or frustrated, it can feel impossible to provide the best care to your foster child/children.

Foster carers are incredibly resilient, but this doesn’t mean you should put up with an unsupportive agency.

Use that resilience and look elsewhere, you can find out more about transferring agencies here…

How does Transferring Work?

Once you’ve decided you want to transfer agencies:

  1. Research and reach out to other fostering agencies.

  2. Notify your current agency that you’ll be transferring.

  3. Attend a meeting on transfer protocol if you are currently caring for a foster child.

  4. Wait for your new fostering agency to carry out checks, and for the panel to make a recommendation.
